Mary Eileen McDonnell was born April 28, 1952. She is an American stage screen, film, and television actress. McDonnell received Academy Award nominations for her roles in Stands With A Fist in Dances with Wolves and May-Alice Culhane in Passion Fish. McDonnell is best known for her performances in Battlestar Galactica as President Laura Roslin as well as First Lady Marilyn Whitmore, and Rose in Donnie Darko. In the seasons of 5-7 she appeared as Captain Sharon Raydor and in Major Crimes spin-offs on TNT.
